A
Lift is what I have called, a
piece of already written Script which is “Lifted”
from the Script and inserted as a
Flashback later in the Script.
Essentially, from a filming point of
view, the Sequence is Firstly Filmed at some stage,
then when Editing,
it is “Lifted”, that is,
Copied and Inserted
into the
Second Position, which is the Flashback Position.
There were several Lifts
in the Adapted Screenplay of KHAKI TOWN,
which I have compiled into a List,
for easy access –
eg. 8-KHAKI

MEMORY
If you have a good memory for your Scenes, then this should not be too
much of a problem.
If you don’t, then when you write your Script, it would be a good idea to
–
-
MARK the Flashbacks that you know are Lifts,
as you go along
- TYPE IN a note
underneath them,
in both the Scene Tag List and the
Scene List
as to what Scene and what Page
Number they come from
FORMALISE THE NOTES
Whether you have a good memory or not,
the Notes in the
Scene Tag List and the Scene List, should be
Formalised, such –
eg. 1-KHAKI TOWN-Scene Tags
2-KHAKI TOWN-Scenes
