Screenplay Format #23 - Time Lines - Part 2

To recap –

For a better Overview of the Whole Story, I constructed    2    Time Lines –

            -  A     Time Line    of    Scenes,
               in    Chronological Order    of    Time
            -  A    Time Line    of    Major Real    World War 2 Events
which were part of the    Background    to the    Story,
               in    Chronological Order    of    Time

These helped me to understand and co-ordinate the Story, in a much better way.

They are contained in    2    Files –

            10-KHAKI TOWN-Scene Timeline
            11-KHAKI TOWN-PARTIAL WW2 TIMELINE

2.  PARTIAL WW2 TIMELINE

eg.

Because KHAKI TOWN is based on real world events, I found it useful to construct a Time Line to make clearer, those major relevant World War 2 events that were occurring during the time of the story and in the general geographical area associated with that of the story.

As these events, directly and indirectly influence the story.

To construct  a Timeline of this type  (Factual or Fictional) -
         -  Use the Same Technical Methods as for the Scene Time Line.
(Outlined in the previous post, Screenplay Format  #22 – Time Lines – Part 1)

However, in this case, proceed as follows -
         -  Construct the Centreline
         -  Type in the Start Time and End Time,
Along the Left of the Centreline
                          eg.     Start, Time    -     7 Dec (1941)
                                    End Time      -     30 July (1942)
         -  Calibrate the Centreline,
Between these two Points in Time
in evenly spaced increments coordinated with Time
eg.     One Page Line equals One Week
You may have to adjust things a bit
until the Timeframe is evenly spaced down the Page / s
-  For each Event,
Type in on the Left side of the Centreline –
                -  The Date of the Event
                    (Factual or Fictional)
Type in on the Right side of the Centreline –
                -  The Name of the Event or a Short Description of the Event
                    (Factual or Fictional)
-  Type in further to the Left side of the Centreline –
            -  The beginning of Each Year, if applicable
          -   For each Major Event or Group of Events,
Place a Cross-member on the Timeline
At the corresponding Point in Time
          -  You may have to adjust things again,
Until the Timeline is how you want it
          -  Type in, if not already, the Heading for the Timeline

eg.

When all is correct -

This is the File      11-NAME-Background Events Timeline

complete.
