The Files –

To
11. Partial WW2 Timeline
have been outlined in the previous blog posts.
Now it is time to wrap up the whole Screenplay.
1. THE END
In most of the Files, especially the Script and those with
long lists,
I have entered in, the words –
THE
END
a Few Lines Down from
The End of the List, etc.,
to make clear that there is no more material to work on.
So, avoiding any confusion or delay in working with such a
large amount of informatiion.
2. THE GENERAL FILE
- OPEN the File
0-2-NAME-GENERAL
- I have used a HEADING
with NO NUMBER
This is because this File is more of a
conversational type,
in the group of Files that form an Overview
of the Screenplay,
before the
Script.
eg.

TIMELINE ETC.
If applicable,
- On the
3rd LINE UNDER the
HEADING,
TYPE IN the word,
TIMELINE, as a SUB-HEADING
- Under this,
TYPE IN a short explanation of your perspective of the
Screenplay Timeline
eg.
________________________________________________________________________________
TIMELINE
Many times, dates and people’s ages in this screenplay
are estimates only, to give a sense of flow.
This would also be a useful place to
state any other perspectives taken in the Screenplay,
in separate paragraphs.
For example,
- If it is a Fictitious Story,
That all people and events represented in
the story are fictitious,
and in no way represent any real person or
event / s.
LENGTH OF SCRIPT
- PRESS ENTER

To make 3
SPACE LINES
- TYPE IN –
- the words, LENGTH OF SCRIPT
- the TOTAL NUMBER OF SCRIPT PAGES
eg.
________________________________________________________________________________
LENGTH OF SCRIPT - 486
pages
__________________________________________________________________________________
This is for a handy reference.
LENGTH OF FILM
I have made an estimate of the Length
of the Film, to give an idea of what sort of Film, KHAKI TOWN, is. This also
gives an idea of How Much Work will be involved in Making the Film.
eg.
________________________________________________________________________________
LENGTH OF FILM
A mathematical estimate.
Scene Length No.
Length per scene Total
S 165 15 sec max 41 min 15 sec
M 145 30 sec max 72 min 30 sec
L 165 30 sec min 82 min 30
sec, +
____ ____________________
470 196
min 15 sec, +
____
3
hours 16 min 15 sec, +
___________________
__________________________________________________________________________________
So, you can see that I have used the
Scene Lengths,
S, M
& L
Which I estimated in the File –
2-KHAKI
TOWN-scenes
eg.
___________________________________________________________________

Just recapping, from the previous blog post, “Screenplay Format #10 – Scene List” -
___________________________________________________________________________________
LENGTH OF SCENE
I have estimated the length of each
Scene / Scene Sub-Section / Scene Sub-Sub-Section, as –
S - SMALL 15
seconds or less
M - MEDIUM 15
-30 seconds
L - LARGE 30
seconds or more
I did this by using a stop watch to time each
Scene / Scene Sub-Section / Scene Sub-Sub-Section
as I read it out to myself,
approximating the pace of the real action.
This, I used to estimate the Total Length of Running Time of the Film.
___________________________________________________________________________________
To Make the Length of Film Table
(above) –
-
IN THE FILE 2-NAME-SCENES
GO DOWN THE LIST AND (USING OTHER MEANS)
- ADD UP HOW MANY SCENES ARE IN EACH SCENE
LENGTH CATEGORY
- S (SMALL) No.
- M
(MEDIUM) No.
- L (LARGE) No.
- MULTIPY EACH No. by their respective
individual SIZE
- S No. x 15 sec =
Total Time Length for Small Scenes etc.
- M No.
x 30 sec = Total Time Length for Medium Scenes etc.
- L
No. x 30 sec
(+) =
Total Time Length (+ extra) for Large Scenes etc.
- ADD UP EACH
of the 3 Total Time Lengths = Total
Time Length (+ extra)
for the Film
-
IN THE FILE 0-2-NAME-GENERAL
- CONSTRUCT THE TABLE (AS ABOVE)
- TYPE IN THE RELEVANT INFORMATION
Hopefully, this gives a working
estimate of how long the Film would end up running for.
This is all that I have included in the
File 0-2-NAME-GENERAL
