Screenplay Format #3 - Initial Page Set Up

 

This is the method to be applied, when first setting up each page file.

 

 

MAIN SETTINGS
Header                                     –  No Header    (see below)                                           
Margins, Left & Right             –  2.5 cm each    (default setting)
Footer                                      –  2.5 cm    (default setting)
Main Text                                 -   Calibri (Body) 12,    Aligned Left                                            
Line Spacing                           -   1.0,    No spaces before or after

Tabs                                         -   1.0 cm    (see below)       

 

 

 

Header Area 

I had trouble using the header in the file, so opted for NO Header.

 

To remove the Header -                                                

Have the ruler visible

at the side of your page.

The Header can be seen

on the ruler,

as the dark grey area.

Move the cursor

over the bottom end

of the dark grey area

until it is a

double headed arrow

with a box saying

"Top Margin".

Then hold down

the left mouse button, and,

at the same time,

move the cursor

up to the top of the ruler.

Then release the left mouse button

                    The header is now removed.

Line Spacing

      -  Place the cursor at the first position at the top left of the page

      -  Left click it, so that it is positioned as a flashing line

      -  Then press        ENTER        repeatedly,

          down the page, until it comes to the end of the page

 

This sets the line spacing all the way down the page, so that it is uniform.

Tabs

      -  Left click on the    Arrow Box    in the bottom right corner

         of the Paragraph section,

         in the Ribbon which runs along the top of the Page File

         A    Paragraph Dialogue Box    will appear

      -  Left click on the    Tabs    button in the bottom left corner

         A    Tabs Dialogue Box    will appear

      -  In the    Default tabs stops    box -

         Change the size of the    Tab    by,

         either –

               -  Delete the default number

               -  Type in    1.0

         or –

               -  Left click on the    

                  Up Arrow Box    or the    Down Arrow Box

                  which are to the right of the

                  Default tabs stops    box

      -  Close the    Tabs Dialogue Box    by,

         either -

               -  Press    OK   

         or -   

               -  Left Click the    Close button    X

                  in the top right corner

 

I have chosen    1.0 cm    for the Tab spacing, 

as it makes it easier to line up columns to the Ruler at the top of the page.
